ποΈ The hardware layer
Hivegrid is the physical muscle of the ecosystem β a fleet of standardised, community-hosted micro-servers placed in homes and businesses across Australia and New Zealand. Together they carry the load that would otherwise belong to a distant data centre, and they keep the community's data physically where it belongs.
One fleet, designed as one system
Each unit is a grid node β the same image, stamped once and proven. Power one on and it joins the live cluster on its own, no expert required.
Compact, low-power micro-servers running one proven golden image β reliable, identical, replaceable.
A new node powers on, finds the cluster over a secure mesh and takes on its role automatically.
Nodes connect over an encrypted overlay, so they work reliably even behind ordinary home internet.
Data is spread and replicated across many nodes and regions β the grid assumes any one node can fail, and shrugs it off.
Data stays physically in AU/NZ. Sovereignty isn't a policy line β it's where the hardware sits.
Homes and businesses host a node and are recognised for carrying the community's infrastructure.
Why it matters
A community app that runs on someone else's cloud isn't really sovereign. Hivegrid is how TerraCare carries large loads on its own terms β a distributed edge cloud owned by the people who use it, with room to one day offer sovereign storage and apps back to its members.
